Only RMPL members may borrow books. Membership information may be obtained here.
We only lend books to members in the United States, Canada, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Requests from other countries need to contact the RMPL.
Materials borrowed by mail include most books and loose journals. Materials which cannot be borrowed include locked-case books and bound journals. The RMPL reserves the right to determine what materials can be borrowed.
The number of books which can be checked out will be determined by the RMPL.
The borrower is limited to one active mail-order request at a time and is responsible for the cost of shipping both ways. Domestic shipping will be by United States Postal Service media mail with tracking. International shipping will be via FedEx or UPS with tracking.
All materials may be borrowed for a period of four weeks (including the two-way transit times). Borrowed materials not received by the RMPL within the loan period will be considered overdue.
The charge for each overdue item is $1.00 per week to a maximum of eight weeks. If the item(s) has not been returned by 8 weeks from the date when shipped from the RMPL, it will be considered lost and the borrower will be responsible for the cost of replacing the item.
An invoice and a return mailing label will be included with each shipment. When returning the borrowed item(s), enclose the invoice and payment (a check or money order made out to the RMPL in US funds). Use the return mailing label on the shipping carton.
